The role of Health Librarians and Knowledge Specialists in evidence-based practice

Healthcare professionals require the best available evidence to make informed decisions that improve patient care.  Health Librarians are an integral part of this decision-making process by supporting evidence-based practice.  Health librarians and knowledge specialists assist and support healthcare professionals by sourcing the relevant information required at the point of patient care.

This work includes searching the healthcare databases for relevant studies, systematic reviews, and clinical practice guidelines. These librarians also produce evidence summaries and current awareness bulletins for healthcare professionals, to inform and take the evidence from paper-to-patient.
