What are the benefits of collecting case studies and stories?

From the first wave pilot libraries, we learned that demonstrating social value is an important measure of success for public libraries.  By gathering short case studies, public libraries can demonstrate quickly the difference they are making to their service users.  NHS England will use these case studies to advocate for the value of public libraries as partners and as a safe space to access health information and the NHS App.

  • What is the easiest way to gather case studies?
  • Explain that you are collecting short case studies to show the benefits of using public libraries as a space to help people to get onto the NHS App and find health information.
  • Ask people if they mind if you write a very short case study to explain how you have helped them.
  • Ask them if they are happy to give you a short quote to explain how this service helped them?

Ask if they are happy to share their name (even their first name is helpful) to bring the case study to life but explaining that there is no pressure to share their details or to take part in the case study if they prefer not to.  Send your case studies to england.kfh@nhs.net
