From the first wave pilot libraries, we learned that demonstrating social value is an important measure of success for public libraries. Case studies can demonstrate the difference they are making to their service users. NHS England will use case studies to advocate the value of public libraries as partners and as a safe space to access health information and the NHS App. What is the easiest way to gather case studies?
When collecting and writing case studies:
- use the case study template that’s available for staff to access in the library.
- explain that you’re collecting case studies to show the benefits of using public libraries to help people use the NHS App
- find health information
- ask people if they mind if you write a very short case study to explain how you have helped them
- ask them if they are happy to give a quote to explain how this service helped them?
- check if they’re happy to share their name. (Even their first name is helpful to bring the case study to life – or they could choose a name as a pseudonym)
- explain there’s no pressure to share details or to take part in the case study
